We purchase our Dexamethasone from Sigma, catalogue number D4902.
"Dexamethasone solutions are stable for at least 30 days when stored at 4°C and protected from light. The solution may be aliquoted and stored at -20°C." (Sigma).
We make a 2 mg/ml (~5x10-3 M) stock in 100% ethanol and store it at -20°C. This is a 500x stock, with the final working concentration 1x10-5 M.
In our hands the water soluble Dex (Sigma D2915) does not work when applied to Xenopus embryos.
