Project Goals
Our goal is to fully dissect the regulatory circuitry of the yeast
genome by analyzing the genome-wide effects of mutations in all
factors involved in transcription of protein-coding genes. The
initial aim of the study is to determine the requirement for key
components of the general transcriptional machinery which is
recruited to promoters of protein coding genes. We hope to gain
insights into:
- how expression of each gene depends on components of the
transcription apparatus
- how genes are coordinately regulated
- which components of the transcription apparatus are targets of
gene-specific transcriptional regulators
- which components of the transcription apparatus are targets of
signal transduction pathways
- how to interpret genome-wide expression signatures in
experiments which do not modify transcription per se
